Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced that the company will begin shipping samples of its new 200 Gbit/s PIN photodiode (PD) chip from October 1 this year. The chip is intended for use in next-generation optical transceivers that support 800 Gbit/s and 1.6 Tbit/s fiber optic communications.
