What happened in “Oshi no Ko”, season 2, episode 7?

Episode 7 explores Akane and Kana’s past

Season 2, Episode #7 of Oshi no Ko continues the 2.5D stage play Tokyo Blade with the end of the fight between Monme and Kizami, where Tsurugi, played by Kana, faces Monme, played by Kamoshida. After one of Kamoshida’s lines is drowned out by the stage sound effects, Kana spontaneously improvises a line to cover it up, showing off her experience as an actress as well as her ability to adapt.

Akane’s performance manages to convey every nuance, much to the amazement of Abiko and the audience.

Monme then returns to the Shibuya Cluster, where Akane makes her debut as Sayahime, while Aqua finally takes the stage as Touki. Despite the many changes to the script regarding Sayahime’s character, Akane’s portrayal manages to convey every nuance, much to the amazement of Abiko and the audience. Thus begins the battle between the two factions, the Shinjuku Cluster led by Blade and the Shibuya Cluster led by Sayahime. After accidentally straying, Tsurugi crosses Sayahime’s path and the two engage in battle as well.

A flashback then shows that Akane used to be a big fan of Kana and kept watching clips of Kana until her parents urged her to try acting. However, when Akane meets Kana at an audition, she is baffled by her lack of passion for acting and Kana’s apathy towards the fact that the audition was a farce and she was already cast in the role.

Eventually, Akane understands why Kana acted the way she did, realizing that she was afraid of her career and was insecure. Akane does her best at the performance to highlight Kana’s acting skills and force her to take the spotlight instead of putting it on others.

However, when Kana notices Akane’s spectacular acting, she steps back and lets Akane take center stage instead of taking on the challenge. The episode ends with Aqua and Akane join forces to highlight Kana’s performanceand sets the stage for an even showdown between Akane and Kana.

In Season 2, Episode 8 of Oshi no Ko, Kana is finally in the spotlight

Season 2, Episode #8 of Oshi no Ko will probably see Kana finally steps into the spotlight after a little nudge from Aqua. The episode will also likely delve deeper into Kana’s character and backstory and the reason for her fears regarding her popularity and career. That said, by putting Kana in the spotlight, the upcoming episode will also highlight some of Aqua’s unexpected strengths.

Fans can also expect to see more of Himekawa, the lead actor in the role of Blade, as he and Aqua eventually clash on stage with their different acting styles. It is still unclear if Aqua can keep up with Himekawa’s overwhelming emotional acting and stage presence, though this storyline will likely be explored in more detail once Kana has had her moment in the spotlight. Nevertheless, the upcoming episode of Oshi no Ko promises to be just as exciting.

Don’t miss Oshi no Ko Season 2, Episode #8 when it airs on HIDIVE on August 21, 2024.
