Temperatures could reach 107 this week, says NWS

This week’s daily maximum temperatures will be the highest we have seen so far this summer.

The National Weather Service is forecasting highs of 104 degrees on Monday, followed by 107 degrees on Tuesday and 106 degrees on Wednesday. Austin will begin to cool off on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with highs of 103 degrees, 100 degrees and 99 degrees, respectively.

This streak of high temperatures over 100 degrees Celsius will last 12 days in a row, the longest stretch Austin has seen this year. The last streak of hot days was three days shorter, from June 24 to July 5.

The NWS has issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Monday. Check online at weather.gov/ewx/ to see if the heat advisory has been extended.
