Futurama is back on Hulu with three episodes of Season 12 currently available to stream. Episode 4, “Beauty and the Bug,” the Premieres on Hulu on Monday, August 19.

Ahead of the episode’s premiere, CBR can share a sneak peek. In the clip, Bender is seen running from attacking bull-sized bugs when a robot in the audience catches his attention. Bender is immediately smitten and stops to introduce himself, but he’s not prepared for her reaction when he asks her name. The clip can be viewed below.

“I’ll tell you what, there’s a certain type of people who like this show, and I like it that way,” Bender voice actor John DiMaggio recently told CBR about the Futurama Fans who support the series decades after its initial debut. “It’s a smart show, so it attracts smart fans, people who are thoughtful and different.”

It’s an intelligent show and therefore it attracts intelligent fans, thoughtful and different people.

He added: “The only consistency (among Futurama fans) is that they’re usually smarter than the average bear, you know what I mean? It speaks to the higher intelligence of people and doesn’t look down on anyone.”

DiMaggio also talked about how popular the series has remained without ever entering the R-rated area. While in Futurama episodes, it hasn’t gotten to the point where it becomes vulgar, which sets the series apart from many other adult animated series. DiMaggio paid tribute to co-creator Matt Groening.

“This is a Matt Groening thing and it’s impressive,” he said. “There’s definitely a blue theme, but it’s handled in a way that doesn’t have to be obvious. It’s creative and like anyone else, we talk about it when we appeal to their higher intelligence. It’s pretty amazing.”

Futurama revived by Hulu in 2023

This is the second season of Futurama to stream on Hulu after the series is revived with season 11 in 2023. The series was created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, who also serve as executive producers alongside Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz. The show features the voices of John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman.

Hulu’s official synopsis for the new season of Futurama states: “In this orbit around the sun, our occasionally heroic crew embarks on mind-bending adventures that include birthday party games of life and death, the secrets of Bender’s ancestral robot village, AI friends (and enemies), impossibly cute beanbags, and the true 5 million year old story behind the mind-altering substance called coffee. And, of course, the next chapter in Fry and Leela’s fateful, time-twisting romance.”

Futurama is available to stream on Hulu, with the next episode scheduled to air on Monday, August 19.
