Former DC Everest dance coach pleads not guilty to theft charges

WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – A former DC Everest dance coach accused of botching the team’s finances has pleaded not guilty.

Alexandria Villiard was charged with theft in a commercial context after an audit revealed the team’s bank account had a $12,000 deficit. Villiard has resigned from her position.

The criminal complaint also states that Villiard is solely responsible in this case.

On Thursday, a judge also ruled in court that there was enough evidence to take her case to trial.

An investigation began in April. According to court documents, Villiard used her personal Venmo account to collect money on behalf of the dance team. The dance team generated money by hosting dance classes. Villiard is also accused of selling dance costumes to a water ski team. District employees told police she did not have permission to sell the costumes and was paid $700. The sale was undocumented and the funds were not accounted for, her criminal complaint states.

Villiard told investigators that the dance team had overspent money, estimated to have earned between $3,000 and $5,000, according to court documents.

The spiritual court hearing is scheduled for October 1st.
