Pitbull denies Kesha was intentionally removed from YouTube track “Timber”

According to Pitbull, things are not going well with Kesha.

On Sunday, August 18, the 43-year-old “Give Me Everything” singer dismissed the notion that the 37-year-old “Joyride” artist was intentionally removed from the track “Timber” on YouTube.

“Timber” was featured on Pitbull’s 2013 album Meltdown and crowned Billboard‘s Hot 100, US Dance Club Songs, US Hot Rap Songs, US Pop Airplay Charts and more.

“.@KeshaRose and I have an incredible song together. That’s not going to change. Team Pitbull is investigating. Love to Kesha, Dale!” Pitbull wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) alongside a clip of her 2013 music video.

The music video for “Timber” was originally titled “Pitbull – Timber (Official Video) ft. Kesha” and has since been changed to “Pitbull – Timber (Official Video)”. Noticeably, the pop star was not mentioned and a standard thumbnail of the singer was removed.

Fans noticed the change in X and expressed their outrage.

One user wrote: “She may have been on it but people know this as a Kesha song rather than a Pitbull song. It’s like removing Jesus from the Bible.”

Another fan pointed out that the “obvious reason” for the change in information was that the song was produced by Dr. Luke, with whom Kesha has had a decades-long legal battle.

In December 2023 diversity reported that the “Praying” musician left Kemosabe and RCA Records as well as management following the end of her legal dispute with producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald in June 2023.

Kesha’s exit came nearly six months after the “Woman” singer and Gottwald, 50, agreed to settle his defamation suit out of court ahead of his scheduled trial – nearly a decade after she first sued the Grammy-winning producer, accusing him of sexual, emotional and physical abuse.

Following the settlement, both parties released public statements via Instagram, with Kesha claiming she could not “share” the details of Gottwald’s alleged sexual abuse because he wished her “well” and continued to deny the allegation.

Kesha initially sued Gottwald, claiming he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2005. He denied the allegations and filed a countersuit that same year. In 2016, a judge dismissed Kesha’s lawsuit.

A week before Gottwald’s defamation suit against Kesha went to trial, the New York Court of Appeals reportedly ruled that he met the requirements of a public figure, meaning he “must prove that the allegedly defamatory statements were made with ‘actual malice,'” the court wrote, according to diversity.
