Kesha fans were left incensed on Sunday (August 18) after claims that the “Eat the Acid” singer’s name had been removed from the video credits of Pitbull’s 2013 hit “Timber.” Screenshots posted to Reddit show what appear to be altered credentials for the video of Mr. Worldwide’s single. Meltdown EP, the chorus of which is sung by Kesha, her name looked like it had been deleted.

However, a check of the credits for the song on Monday morning (August 19) revealed that the song is credited to both artists, with Kesha’s previous stage name (Ke$ha) also listed as a feature in the official video title. The video, which has so far garnered more than 1.5 billion views, was reportedly changed to “Pitbull – Timber (Official Video)” on Sunday for an unknown period of time.

In a statement sent to X on Sunday afternoon, Pitbull sent a direct message to Kesha, assuring her that he was looking into the reports. “@KeshaRose and I have an incredible song together. That will not change. Team Pitbull is investigating this matter. Always love for Kesha, Dale!”

At the time of going to press, Kesha and YouTube spokespeople had not yet returned Billboardfor further comment and a spokesperson for Pitbull also did not respond to a request for clarification. Pitbull’s statement apparently came after Kesha fans flooded social feeds with anger on Sunday over the apparent deletion of her significant contribution to the song, which spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Many fans speculated that the removal could be related to Kesha’s years-long feud with the song’s main producer, Dr. Luke (born Lukasz Gottwald), whom she sued in 2014 for allegedly sexually, mentally and emotionally abusing her. Dr. Luke denied all allegations and subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit. The two settled in court in 2023, shortly before a trial was scheduled.
