Here are the content creators sharing updates from the Democratic National Convention – Daily Bulletin
The Democratic National Convention begins today in Chicago, and as part of that, the convention is turning to social media by inviting content creators to participate in the political event.
New this year is a creator platform, similar to a networking platform of traditional media, where content creators can create videos and social media posts directly from the exhibition grounds.
The Creator Platform is a special area on the convention grounds where accredited creators can participate in the action at the convention. Not only can they provide social media updates to their viewers, but they can also interview attendees and prominent members of the Democratic Party, similar to traditional media.
Those who follow the conventions on television via broadcast stations usually see network platforms during the broadcast. These are areas where journalists and commentators provide live updates to viewers while viewing the convention hall in the background.
It’s the first time the convention has given press accreditations to content creators, and it’s a sign of the shift in the media landscape. A 2023 Pew Research Center study found that 43% of TikTok users regularly get their news from there, up from 22% of users who got their news from the video-focused app in 2020.
Last month, 70 content creators were guests at the Republican National Convention and received full accreditation to create videos to help the Republican Party reach younger voters.
The congressional committee said it will host more than 200 content creators at the DNC in Chicago this week and will also provide remote access to hundreds more social media creators to cover the convention.
