Democratic Party presents new program and represents controversial positions of the extreme left

CV-NEWS-FEED // The newly announced election platform of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for 2024 represents a number of controversial positions from the far left spectrum and is thus met with widespread criticism on the occasion of the start of the party convention in Chicago.

The Democratic Party wrote in a statement on Sunday that it had released its final party platform, which was to be “voted on by delegates at the party convention” on Monday evening.

“This platform was adopted by the Platform Committee on July 16, before the President (Joe Biden) resigned,” the Democrats continued:

It is a powerful statement of the historic work that President Biden and Vice President Harris have done hand in hand and offers a vision for a progressive agenda that we can build on as a nation and as a party over the next four years.

Critics particularly criticized several areas of the party’s 90-page program.

Land recognition

At the beginning of the document – before the preamble – there is a “land recognition”.

Land acknowledgements are a form of declaration that has only recently been brought into the mainstream by left-wing activists. This relatively new practice is gaining popularity in academia and American business, and is likely to confuse many American voters.

“The Democratic National Committee wishes to recognize that we come together to affirm our values on land that has been stewarded for many centuries by the ancestors and descendants of the tribal nations who have lived here since time immemorial,” the platform’s recognition states:

As we gather in Chicago, we also recognize and honor the traditional homelands of the Anishinaabe, also known as the Council of Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations.

We thank the many other tribes who consider this area their traditional home, including the Myaamia, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac and Fox, Peoria, Kaskaskia, Wea, Kickapoo and Mascouten.

Despite their increasing prevalence, land recognitions remain highly controversial even on the political left.

Democrats will “vigorously oppose” child protection laws

On page 57 of the Democratic platform, it states that the party will “vigorously oppose state and federal bans on gender-affirming health care.”

“(Former President Donald) Trump is pursuing an extreme plan to punish doctors who treat transgender youth and ban gender reassignment surgery,” the platform continues, “and his Republican allies in the MAGA movement have pushed through a flood of extreme anti-LGBTQI+ bills in state legislatures across the country.”

Democrats were likely referring to the growing number of states – not all of them red – that have passed laws in recent years to protect children from hormone drugs and sexual surgeries. Democrats have also generally opposed similar but more moderate laws that simply require parental notification before a child undergoes “transgender” medical procedures.

Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed a controversial law last year that critics denounced as the radical opposite of such a protection law.

As The Washington Post As reported, Minnesota state law allows courts “to have ’emergency temporary jurisdiction’ in custody disputes that cross state lines when a child has been unable to receive gender-affirming care.”

“Joe Biden back in the race?”

Beyond the content of the document, the repeated mentions of Biden’s “second term” on the platform drew the most criticism.

Biden made headlines around the world last month when he announced his withdrawal from the 2024 election and his support for Vice President Kamala Harris, the current Democratic presidential candidate.

The DNC’s manifesto mentions Biden’s second term 20 times. Biden’s name appears almost 300 times, while Harris – the previous likely Democratic vice presidential candidate – appears only 32 times.

The National Desk reported: “The DNC platform committee voted on the platform shortly before President Biden dropped out of the race, which is likely the reason for the misidentifications.”

Still, many observers questioned why the DNC had not updated its platform and highlighted the name of its new candidate in the weeks since Harris became the Democratic Party’s front-runner.

Trump himself commented on this oversight, writing on TRUTH Social: “The fact that Democrats don’t even care about the platform shows they don’t even want to make the change.”

TrumpWarRoom, an X-account linked to Trump’s campaign, wrote: “This is hilarious incompetence, but it’s also the truth. Kamala’s presidency would be a second term for Biden. A continuation of his broken economy, his broken border, and his broken world.”
