Bremond Tigers want to build on last season’s success

BREMOND, Texas (KXXV) — Last season, the Bremond Tigers finished second in their district and made it to the third round of the postseason.

After several key players returned from injuries in the fall, they want to move even further forward in 2024.

“It’s always very exciting when you get to the third round of the playoffs and play in big stadiums and have more fans come every week when you win in the playoffs,” said Tigers head coach Jeff Kasowski.

“It definitely makes us want to do it again next season.”

The Tigers return much of last year’s roster, including 16 starters, and this fall they are poised to provide standout seasons for several seniors.

“We feel really good,” Kasowski said.

“We’ve had a good summer of work – two or three of these kids are in their third year this year and have been here since their first year. So we’ve just waited and seen over the next few years how good we can be.”

Bremond are in a highly competitive district with teams like Mart and Chilton, but they are confident they can challenge for the top spot in 2024.

“I expect to win a lot of games just by lying out there,” said veteran wide receiver Carson Crowley.

“I think we have a really good chance to win the district championship – with Mart and Chilton and everyone else in this district, it’s really tough, but I think with the strong competition, we’re well-equipped to make a good playoff run and hope we go really far.”

“You can go anywhere in the city and everyone kind of knows what to expect and what their expectations are for the coming year,” Kasowski said.

“Everyone is looking forward to this year when the children will come to us again.”

While the Tigers have a variety of weapons on offense, Coach Kasowski is happy with the performance of his defense.

“You know, every time we’ve been really good in Bremond and gone far, we’ve had a great defense,” Kasowski said.

“I’m excited about our speed and athleticism on defense to keep the opponents’ points under control, because I think any time you have a chance to stop opponents on defense, you have a good chance to win.”

Bremond opens the first week of the season at Tiger Stadium and hosts Kerens – kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
