At the San Diego Comic-Con Star Trek: Strange New Worlds revealed a 5-minute first look at a season 3 episode directed by Jordan Canning in which members of the USS Enterprise are transformed into Vulcans. To the horror of Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck), Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Ensign Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) and Lt. La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) are not only more Vulcan than Spockwho is half human, but his pointy ears and logical mind seem to be permanent.


Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 shocked audiences with the introduction of the younger version of Sybok, Spock’s half-brother. Sybok (Lawrence Luckinbill), a Vulcan heretic and revolutionary, debuted in Star Trek: V – The Final Frontierwhich more than 25 years after Strange new worlds. Sybok preferred emotions over Vulcan logic and was driven by the mad search for God in the legendary world of Sha Ka Ree. Sybok eventually sacrificed himself to save Spock from the evil Pretender (George Murdock), but in Star Trek: Strange New WorldsSpock and Sybok are estranged, and Sybok is incarcerated at the Ankeshtan K’Til Vulcan Criminal Rehabilitation Center.

Spock might need his brother more than ever

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds The third season’s Vulcan episode is obviously funny, and the latest in a series of humorous stories exploring how Spock feels about his Vulcan heritage. Strange new worlds In Season 3, Spock is alarmed when four of his crewmates on the USS Enterprise become full Vulcans, as this brings to light his deep insecurities about not being “Vulcan enough.” In fact, Captain Pike and the others refer to themselves and Spock as “Four and a half Vulcans” is an obvious dig at Spock that hits him deeply. But, that’s something about Spock that Sybok would understand.

It is possible that Spock visits Sybok in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 of the volcano episode, and that would be an ideal way to bring Sybok into the prequel without disturbing Star Trek canon. Sybok grew up with the young Spock for a time and was all too aware of his half-human brother’s inferiority complex. Since Sybok has turned his back on Vulcan logic, he is in a unique position to explain to Spock that clinging to his Vulcan heritage and fears of rejection is actually illogical. It also makes sense that Spock would turn to Sybok for help; after all, Spock can no longer speak to his adopted sister, Star Trek: Discoveryis Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), who disappeared in the 32nd century.

Sybok disappointingly did not appear in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 after his shocking revelation at the end of Strange new worlds Season 1, Episode 7, “The Serene Squall”. Strange new worlds surprisingly updated what the audience knew about Sybok from Star Trek V, revealed that Sybok bears the pseudonym Xaverius. Sybok married a space pirate named Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel) before being held in a Vulcan prison, ironically overseen by T’Pring (Gia Sandhu), Spock’s fiancée. Captain Angel hijacked the starship Enterprise in a failed attempt to free Sybok.

Captain Angel is still at large and is also awaiting his return to
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.


In an interview with Screen Rant at the San Diego Comic-Con, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers stated that they would like Sybok to return. It is possible that the return in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, with Jordan Canning’s Vulcan comedy as a prime opportunity to bring Sybok back. After all, Spock has a unique problem to solve in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Vulcan episode of the third season. With Spock estranged from his Vulcan father, Ambassador Sarek (James Frain) Sybok is the only person who can understand Spock and help him with his Vulcan insecurities.
