Training Camp Preview: Emporia State Soccer Strikers

August 19, 2024 – Emporia State Soccer is preparing for the 2024 season with a group of seven forwards, with Senior Hadlie Lowe leading. Karlie Kanaga joins Lowe as another returnee, five newcomers complete the group.

Hadlie Lowe (Sr./Wichita, KS) is in her second season with the Hornets and made an immediate impact after two successful seasons at Hutch CC her first year. Lowe is the leading returning scorer for the 2023 season with six goals and played the third most minutes among returning players. She scored two game-winning goals and totaled 36 shots and 18 shots on goal during her junior season.

Karlie Kanaga (Sun./Mulvane, KS) begins his sophomore year at Emporia State after playing in 23 of 24 games and starting four times as a freshman for the Hornets. Kanaga recorded two assists and played 580 minutes last season, including a season-high 54 minutes against Tampa.

Sade Lee (Jr./Oak Ridge, TN) is in her first year in the program after transferring from Pellissippi State. At PSU, Lee scored 11 goals and added four assists in just 15 games, earning All-Conference First Team and Conference Player of the Year honors. She also earned honorable mention All-NJCAA All-American.

Lisa Simpson (Fr./Lexington, KY) joins the Hornets for her freshman year after a successful high school career at Lafayette HS. Simpson was named to the First Team All-City, All-Region and All-State as a senior, totaling 19 goals and five assists.

Megyn Mahloch (Fr./Overland Park, KS) is in her first season with the Hornets after completing her high school career at Blue Valley HS. Mahloch earned honorable mention All-State honors as a senior and was named All-League in each of her final two seasons with the Tigers.

Megan Kephart (Fr./Lenexa, KS) is a freshman at Emporia State and comes to the Hornets from Mill Valley HS. Kephart was named First Team All-State Class 6A her senior year and was a member of the Jaguars’ state championship team her junior season.

Avery Zimmerman (Fr./Topeka, KS) comes to the Hornets from Topeka HS, where she played all four years for the Trojans. Zimmerman earned All-City honors all four years and was named to the First Team All-Centennial League in each of her final three seasons.
