If you grew up in the late 90s/early 2000s, then A crazy Friday definitely had a big influence on the person you are today.

It really is a perfect movie, and very few films have managed to recreate the magic of Jamie Lee Curtis + Lindsay Lohan + an iconic fictional pop-punk band.

And now, over two decades later, we’re getting a sequel!!! There’s another movie in the works right now, and it’s really happening, folks!

Here’s everything we know about the new movie so far:

1.It is called Crazy Friday and will be released in theaters in 2025.

2.Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis both star in the film, reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman from the first film.

3.Mark Harmon (Ryan), Chad Michael Murray (Jake), Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie), Haley Hudson (Peg), Lucille Soong (Pei-Pei’s mother), Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bates) and Rosalind Chao (Pei-Pei) have also been confirmed to reprise their roles from the 2003 film.

4.Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons complete the cast of the new film.

5.Nisha Ganatra is directing. She previously directed The high tone, late at nightand episodes of And just like that…, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Black Monday, Dollface, Welcome to the Chippendales, and more.

6.Jordan Weiss wrote the screenplay for the film. She previously wrote the series Doll face.

7.Lindsay and Jamie have been talking about making a sequel together for years. In 2022, Jamie revealed that she pitched her idea for the film to Disney. “Let me be the grandma! Let me be the old grandma who switches places. Then Lindsay can be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon, like you’d be happy with Mark Harmon,” she said. “And just, I want to see Lindsay as a hot grandma, and I want to see me trying to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter mom in today’s world, as an old lady.”

8.The script for the sequel was completed in May 2023, before the writers’ strike, and Anna’s pop-punk band Pink Slip is involved in the film. “One writer had the most brilliant idea. It uses music and the band in a great way,” said producer Andrew Gunn.

9.Set years after the original film, Anna has a daughter of her own and is about to have a stepdaughter. As she and Tess navigate the challenges of reuniting their families, they realize that “lightning really might strike twice.”

10.During the casting process Entertainment tonight reported that the film’s casting materials suggested that Anna and Tess would switch places with Harper and Lily, Anna’s daughter and future stepdaughter.

The report states: “Weekly entertainment I looked at the audition materials (including eight pages of script) that were sent to the potential stars. It says, ‘This is a body swap scene’ and ‘Harper should remember ‘Anna’ (Lindsay Lohan) and Lily should remember ‘Tess’ (Jamie Lee Curtis).'”

11.Harper is described as “a surfer teen with a Californian flair and a keen sense of humor” who “has been a bit grumpy lately because her long-time single mother wants to marry British restaurant owner Eric Davies.” And Lily is described as “sharp-tongued.” Casting partners also said, “Harper and Lily are not on the same page. Harper wants things to go her way and uses her intelligence to prevent that marriage.”

12.And according to the casting sites, Anna is planning to move to London with her new husband, but Tess has concerns about that.

13.Finally, production on the film began in LA in June 2024 and it is almost finished. Lindsay and Jamie, who both posted photos from their final days on set, say filming on the movie will wrap up this week.
