Leander ISD welcomes our community to support our students and teachers by volunteering on a district-wide or campus-based committee. If you are interested in serving on one of our district committees, please complete the application by Friday, August 23rd at 5:00 p.m.

We are pleased to provide you with information about our newest committee, which Ambassador for Access to Education (EAA)The Office of Educational Access (OEA) plans to establish an ambassador group of LISD parents/guardians for the 2024-2025 school year.

Community Accountability System (CBAS)

The Community-Based Accountability System Committee (CBAS) empowers students, parents, educators, and community members to build a learning community that respects and supports Leander ISD’s overall strategic plan. It empowers Leander ISD to develop our own internal assessment and accountability system that complements the state system and builds on the hopes and dreams of our community. It also enables us to innovate and adapt system processes to meet the needs and interests of the district and campus communities.

Information about the CBAS meeting:
In person or Google Meet
About four meetings per year
Meeting is scheduled for Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
(Time and type of meeting may change depending on feedback from the committee)

Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC)

The Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC) is a group of LISD parents, teachers, principals, students, business and community members whose primary mission is to learn about and provide advice on the written, taught and tested curriculum, related instructional resources, and possible new programs and courses.

Meeting is scheduled on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

District-wide Educational Improvement Council (DWEIC)

The District-wide Educational Improvement Council (DWEIC) is a committee of parents, business and community members, teachers, principals, and other district employees who serve as an advisory body to the Board in setting and reviewing the district’s educational goals and objectives. The DWEIC also reviews key district-wide instructional programs and advises on district-wide staff development.

Ambassador for Access to Education (EAA)

The Office of Educational Access (OEA) seeks to establish an ambassador group for LISD parents/guardians in the 2024-2025 school year. This group will work with OEA and represent it to internal and external stakeholders. The ambassadors will advocate for improving educational access for ALL students. OEA is seeking parent representatives from each feeder pattern who are willing to serve as ambassadors for educational access in the 2024-2025 school year.

Long-Term Planning Committee (LRPC)

The Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) is comprised of representatives from district departments, elementary and secondary school principals, students, parents and/or community members, and LISD trustees. The Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) serves as an advisor to guide the district and ensure alignment with the Leander ISD strategic plan by:

  • using the 10-year plan as a framework
  • joint learning on components and programmes of long-term planning and
  • Support public education and mutual communication strategies for long-term planning.

Information about the LRPC meeting:
In-person meetings at various campuses or district facilities based on the committee’s current work
Four to eight meetings per year
Meeting is scheduled for Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

The School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is comprised of school staff, community members, and parents and recommends a coordinated health program for elementary and middle school students. Leander ISD is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, families, and staff. By addressing nutrition, physical activity, health education, and substance abuse prevention in different ways and to different audiences, we hope to increase everyone’s awareness and ability to live healthy lives.
