Last chance of rain for now

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – After an early morning thunderstorm on Tuesday, rain chances are down for the rest of the week, but temperatures will remain slightly lower than average, with highs remaining in the upper 30s across much of the state.

Highs in the 80s are expected across most of Kansas on Tuesday, with southeast winds expected to remain below 15 mph.

There won’t be much change on Wednesday as temperatures will continue to be in the 30s across most of the state. Humidity should drop a bit mid-week, but that won’t last more than a few days before slowly rising again.

Warmer weather returns at the end of the week. Highs will reach the 30s again on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures could rise to 38 degrees across much of the central Plains by Saturday as a heat ridge overheats. That shouldn’t last long, but when you factor in the humidity, it’ll be dangerous for central and eastern Kansas, with heat index readings between 40 and 41 degrees.
