Raptors strengthen squad for training camp with winger

The Toronto Raptors are strengthening their squad this summer with some more wing depth.

Jared Rhoden has reportedly signed an Exhibit 10 contract to come to Toronto for training camp later this summer, according to Blake Murphy of Sportsnet. The Raptors announced the deal, but did not reveal the terms of the agreement.

Rhoden, 24, went undrafted in 2022 but signed with the Detroit Pistons, where he appeared in 31 games over two NBA seasons. He struggled to make a big impression but appeared to be a passable three-point shooter, hitting 12 of 31 three-pointers last season.

The 6’6″ winger spent most of last season in the G League, averaging 21.5 points per game for Motor City Cruise. He shot an incredible 40.4% of his three-point shots and added 6.3 rebounds and three assists per game.

Rhoden spent four seasons at Seton Hall, where he averaged 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds and made 33.6% of his three-point shots in his senior year.

Toronto’s training camp roster is now full, with 21 players signed to contracts. That includes three players on Exhibit 10 contracts, including Rhoden, Jamison Battle and reportedly Quincy Guerrier. They are joined by three players on two-way contracts: Ulrich Chomche, Branden Carlson and DJ Carton. Bruno Fernando is the only player in training camp on a standard, non-guaranteed contract.

By signing Rhoden, Toronto has no open roster space to sign Christian Koloko unless the Raptors make a transaction once Koloko is cleared to return to the NBA.

The Raptors will open their training camp in Montreal in October and start their preparatory program on October 6.
