Ballet Hispánico opens registration for the fall 2024 semester of the School of Dance’s adult program

The Ballet Hispánico School of Dance has announced its Fall 2024 semester for the adult program. Registration is now open!

Embark on an exciting dance journey with Ballet Hispánico’s adult program, where dance enthusiasts explore the dynamic rhythms of Hispanic and Latin American music. Our classes are suitable for all skill levels and provide a nurturing and energetic atmosphere for growth and improvement. Receive personalized instruction from our experienced instructors as you immerse yourself in a variety of dance styles. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, our program offers a unique opportunity to ignite your passion and refine your skills year-round and during the summer months. Come join us and discover your own rhythm as you embark on an unforgettable dance journey with Ballet Hispánico.

The fall session will be Monday through Saturday from September 16 to December 14, 2024. Registration closes September 12, 2024. Prices start at $225 for a 10-week session and drop-in classes are $25 per class. COURSES FOR ADULTS

Flamenco: Saturdays 3-4pm and 4-5pm

Join JoDe Romano “La Chispa”, teacher at the School of Dance and former soloist and choreographer of the Jose Greco Dance Company, for a series of flamenco classes for adults and discover castanets, movement techniques, inspiring music and much more. ¡OLÉ!

Tango Level 1: Tuesdays 6:15 – 7:15 p.m.

Join the School of Dance in Tango for Adults! In these classes we will work on the basics you need to dance Argentine tango. You will learn individual and couple techniques as well as useful tools for the dance floor. No previous experience or partner is required for Tango 1.

Tango Level 2: Tuesdays 7:15 – 8:15 p.m.

For tango enthusiasts who already have experience with this dance style, there is Tango 2! The course is designed to give you the tools to take your training to the next level using individual and pair techniques, as well as useful tools for the dance floor. Previous experience or partner required.

Salsa Level 1: Mondays 6:15pm–7:15pm

Join us for this beginner salsa class for adults! Get your body moving with us as you learn the basic steps, shines and partner work found in the New York Salsa On2 beat. All steps are safe for all ages and no partner is needed. This class explores the Latin dance Salsa through body isolations, rhythm and partner work, explained and demonstrated in detail using dance kinesiology and theory.

Salsa Level 2: Mondays 7:15pm–8:15pm

Join the Beginner/Advanced Salsa Class for Adults at School of Dance! This class is designed as a continuation of our Beginner Salsa Class and is also ideal for those who already have experience with this dance style. This class offers you the opportunity to take your training to the next level! The steps are safe for all ages and no partner is needed.

Salsa Open Level: Saturdays 2-3pm

If you want to learn to dance salsa and don’t know where to start, look no further! This course is designed for dancers of all experience and will teach you the first steps to enjoy this Latin American rhythm.

Ballet Level 1: Wednesdays 7-8pm

Take this course from the School of Dance that will teach you the basic principles of ballet! If you have always wanted to learn ballet, this is the perfect course for you. It will give you the necessary tools to help you understand how a ballet class works and how to engage the muscles in your body to perform the simple but complex steps of this dance style.

Ballet Level 2: Thursdays 7-8pm

This class is ideal for dance enthusiasts who have at least one year of ballet training experience or have completed our ballet course for beginners. We will try new steps and combinations that will allow you to enhance your training by building a solid technique.

Mat Pilates: Thursdays 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a dancer or not, a balanced body prevents chronic pain and injury. The Mat Pilates class is designed to improve posture, flexibility, balance and body awareness. It is open to all ages and levels. No previous Pilates experience is necessary.

Contemporary: Thursdays 7:30–8:30 p.m.

Classes begin with a comprehensive warm-up that focuses on strength, technique and flexibility. This prepares the dancers’ bodies in a safe and injury-preventing manner. We will review the basics and work on more challenging elements in a fun, non-judgmental environment. Dancers will move through the space, learning musicality, exploring their artistic possibilities and building endurance. Classes end with work on choreography.

Tap: Wednesdays 7-8pm

Whether you have previous tap dancing experience or have never danced before, join our adult tap dance classes! This class is tailored to the needs of each individual student. We focus on the basics of tap dancing and gradually build up over the course of the class. We dance to a variety of music, from classic jazz standards to contemporary music. As we learn the technique, we improve our balance and sense of rhythm. Come and have fun dancing in a social, encouraging environment!
