7 celebrity living room floor plans

Both private and sociable, comfortable and always ready for a double-page magazine, the living rooms of the rich and famous are the perfect place to look for interior design inspiration.

The team here at Bored Panda did some research to bring you a guided tour of seven amazing celebrity living rooms. We identified the most inspiring celebrity homes and found as many photos of each living room as we could. We then worked with an architect to bring them to life as realistic 3D renderings.

The living room of Hailey and Justin Bieber

Hailey Bieber and her pop star husband bought their Ontario mansion in 2018, shortly before they married. Despite modern touches, the farmhouse-style property retains a touch of tradition through its exposed beams, woodwork and rustic stone fireplace. Simplicity is the watchword here, with neutral white, cream and ivory tones on the understated living room furniture. The only hints of celebrity living are details like the Takashi Murakami pillows and the white chandelier above the dining table.

The living room of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen

Renowned interior designer Jake Arnold—who has also worked with celebs such as Aaron Paul, Rashida Jones, and Katy Perry—designed the Beverly Hills mansion for musician John Legend and model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen. The living room is part of a larger great room that features a preserved olive tree with silk leaves as its centerpiece (so there’s no need to bring in a fresh Christmas tree every winter). The space gets plenty of natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a skylight above the olive tree. “This is my Instagram story room,” Teigen told Architectural Digest. “Everyone always says, ‘You never leave this couch.'” “We live here,” Legend confirmed.

Living room of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats

Musician couple Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats live in an amazing cliffside mansion in La Jolla, San Diego. The home cost over $20 million and is said to have inspired Tony Stark’s house in the Iron Man and Avengers films. Designed by architect Wallace Cunningham in the neo-Wrightian tradition, the living room features a sandstone color scheme and glass walls that open up to views of the ocean. The silk carpet and studded vintage Ngombe wood armchair offer a contrasting, land-based texture to the fluid shapes of Mathieu Lehanneur’s sofas. “I like that a piece of furniture doesn’t dictate how you sit,” says Lehanneur.

Dita Von Teese’s living room

There’s tasteful minimalism, and then there’s Dita Von Teese. The dancer and model calls beige her “worst nightmare” and quickly transformed the interior of her Tudor Revival-style LA home into a gothic, fairytale-like style. She painted the living room pink and added a stuffed tiger and an ostrich from her taxidermy collection. Feathers, a Chinese Art Deco rug from Etsy, and bold, mismatched colors and knickknacks complete the feeling of living in a cabinet of curiosities.

Jennifer Aniston’s living room

Friends Actress Jennifer Aniston lives with her dogs in a $21 million Bel Air mansion that she bought in 2011 and redesigned with her ex-husband Justin Theroux and designer Stephen Shadley. The 1965 modernist home by A. Quincy Jones spans 8,000 square feet, but the living room, with its long, well-stocked bar, is the social center. The bar is lined with bar stools by Piet Hein for Fritz Hansen, and perilously close by are a white polar bear sofa by Jean Royère and a knee-high glass cocktail table by Arturo Pani. The Tiffany lamp behind the gray sofa and the Robert Motherwell painting above left are favorite pieces Aniston brought over from Brad Pitt’s Beverly Hills home.

Kendall Jenner’s living room

“My life is full of chaos, travel, and a lot of energy,” Kendall Jenner once told Architectural Digest, “so I wanted a home that felt serene, a place where I could just unwind and relax.” Her home is definitely free of the showbiz glamour we’ve come to expect from LA’s celebrity homes. Jenner’s living room features a simple arrangement of natural tones and textures, contrasting with the distinctive but relaxed Mediterranean vibe of the archways. The glowing egg-shaped wall sculpture by James Turrell in the bottom right of our rendering sums up the feeling.

Miley Cyrus’ living room

Tish Cyrus, Miley’s mom and interior designer, prefers when a homeowner’s personality shapes the entire property. That’s certainly the case in Miley Cyrus’ 630-square-foot clapboard 1950s home in Southern California. The Anemone Purple Armchair by Giancarlo Zema in the pop star and actress’ living room is her favorite spot, while tacky Dan Lam sculptures drip from the shelves next to it. The modular velvet sofa is suitable for all kinds of parties—including dog parties—while the relatively plain brass and rosewood coffee table is a wacky puzzle shape designed by Gulla Jónsdóttir and produced in an edition of ten.

Exceed all areas

Where do the Biebers rest their feet? Where does Jennifer Aniston entertain her showbiz friends—and her dogs? And where does Dita Von Teese hold informal business meetings? In their living rooms, of course. These are the spaces that best embody the daily lives of America’s most famous celebrities. And each of them has something to offer the interior designer in all of us—be it a room layout, a color scheme, or an 8-foot stuffed tiger.
