Paul George addresses the question of who will make the last shot for the Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2024–25 season as one of the most talented teams in the league, led by a trio of Paul George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The Sixers will rely on those three to get the job done and lead Philadelphia to a deep playoff run after previous failures.

With that in mind, it will be important for these Sixers to come together and gel as quickly as possible. There are other teams in the East like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks that have a head start in terms of chemistry because of the time their players have spent together. The Sixers don’t have that luxury.

One aspect that needs to be clarified is who makes the shot in the crucial phase when the game is on the line. In the last episode of “Podcast P with Paul George,” Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren asked George who makes the final shot between him and Embiid. George waited a moment and replied:

That’s a question from Nick Nurse. I’ll pass it on to Nick Nurse. Whoever Nick Nurse puts it up for, we’ll get the best chance.

I’ve been involved with that, you know what I mean? I’ve been on teams with other superstars and we live and die with whoever wins it.

Ultimately, George is right. Coach Nick Nurse will decide who makes the last shot and design the right play accordingly. George has played with the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony in the past, so this is nothing new for him.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out on the ground.
