Carpe wins the Red Bull Rookies Cup double in Austria

Round five of the 2024 Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup season concluded after two thrilling races at the legendary Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Check out how things unfolded in Austria for the young talents on the Road to MotoGP™ programme below!

Race 1

The non-stop action over the entire 16 laps of Spielberg ended with Alvaro Carpe coaxing the perfect ride from his Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup KTM, winning by just 0.024 seconds from Marco Morelli.

Equally impressive was Màximo Quiles, who recovered from a long lap penalty to rejoin in 10th place with 4 laps to go, over 5 seconds behind leader Carpe. The 16-year-old Spaniard fought his way back into the race and finished a close third.

Carpe’s second win of the year gives the 17-year-old Spaniard a 2-point lead at the top of the Cup standings, while his arch-rival Brian Uriarte, the 16-year-old Spaniard who led before the weekend, finished 6th.

Race 2

Álvaro Carpe delivered a perfect demonstration of his racing skills and speed, winning the second race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Spielberg.

The 17-year-old Spaniard’s second victory of the weekend came with a larger margin, but only because his closest rival Brian Uriarte slipped on the last lap.

This left a small gap to Màximo Quiles and although the 16-year-old Spaniard did everything he could to close it, he crossed the finish line in second place, 0.245 seconds behind Carpe. 15-year-old Indonesian Veda Pratama took an excellent 3rd place, his first podium finish in the Rookies Cup.
