In Florida, gasoline prices rose seven cents last week, but by the weekend all of the increases were wiped out, and the average price of regular gasoline in the state on Sunday was $3.31 per gallon.

According to AAA-Auto Club Group’s weekly gas price chart, the average price is two cents lower than last week, 12 cents lower than the week before and 53 cents lower than the same period last year. The state average is also 33 cents lower than this year’s high of $3.64 per gallon.

“Over the weekend, gasoline prices in Florida hit their lowest average price in two months,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for the group. “The price of crude oil continues to influence prices at the pump.”

He added: “Early last week, oil prices rose on renewed optimism about the US economy after the July domestic consumer spending report came in better than analysts expected. However, towards the end of the week, weak economic data from China caused oil prices to fall.”

The price of crude oil in the US initially rose to $80 per barrel, but remained unchanged for the week. The closing price on Friday was $76.65 per barrel – 19 cents less than the previous week, the briefing said.
