Addisyn Kolson, a 13-year-old Girl Scout from Alpena, built a new small, free library to replace the library at the Alpena Marina, which had become damaged and dilapidated by wind and weather.

Alpena Harbormaster Kevin Fisher commissioned the Girl Scouts and Kolson to volunteer to build a new library to replace the damaged small library and received a Silver Award project for the effort.

The project took about 50 hours to complete, and Alpena Glass generously donated the plexiglass used in the door, Home Depot donated the concrete for the jamb, Curt and Jamie Dubie donated the lumber, their father Patrick Kolson brought the books to fill the library, and their grandparents Jim and Kathy Kolson helped build and finance the project.
