Franklin: Boil water warning – KQKI News

Public Notice 19.08.24

COOKING NOTE
The Franklin Water System experienced sustained power surges throughout the night due to the CLECO outages and reports of smoking power lines causing water pressure to drop below the LDH recommended standard. Due to these surges, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality even though pressure has been restored. As a result, the Franklin Water System is issuing a BOIL WATER ADVISORY effective immediately as a precautionary measure.

This BOIL ADVISORY will remain in effect until lifted by Franklin Water System upon clearance from the Louisiana Department of Health, which typically takes a few days. All consumers are advised to boil their water before consumption (including vending machine beverages), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or dishwashing in the following manner: Boil water in a clean container for one (1) full minute. The minute begins after the water is brought to a boil. Again, be sure to boil your water before consumption until you are told otherwise. Franklin Water System will lift this boil advisory when it receives notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water system have shown our water to be safe to drink.
