One person has been killed and two others, including a young girl, are fighting for their lives in a triple knife attack on a quiet street in Manchester.

Police and paramedics searched the residential street in Gorton after a knife attack was reported shortly after 11pm last night.

A 43-year-old woman was killed in the shooting, while a 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A 22-year-old man, believed to be known to the victims, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

The 43-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries, Greater Manchester Police confirmed this morning.

Horrified neighbors reported hearing “screaming and yelling” last night.

A man who gave his name as Reece said he and his cousin had just returned from a takeaway and were sitting in his car when he heard people “screaming.”

He said: “I heard the neighbors shouting ‘Come in, come in.’ My cousin ran into the house.”

“There was a guy with a knife chasing a girl. I said, ‘Leave her alone, it’s not worth it.'” She fell and he stabbed her.

“I turned my car in his direction, but the girl was in the way. He started chasing my car with the knife.”

Another woman said she heard people “screaming” and saw a man “running in and out of a house.”

“They said, ‘He has a knife.’ It was terrifying. People stayed inside, no one wanted to go out.”

Keelan Sands, who was watching a movie at home when he heard “screaming” outside, said: “I thought it was a fight. A neighbor said, ‘Go back, someone’s been stabbed.'”

“It was scary, I was shaking. I’ve lived here for 11 years and nothing like this has ever happened.”

Another neighbor, who gave his name as Ahmed, said he saw a man “lying on the ground, covered in blood.”

A woman who lives on nearby Fenmore Avenue said she came home from work that morning to find the street blocked off.

She said: “It’s very shocking. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

In a statement, GMP said: “At around 11.20pm last night, following numerous calls from the public, we were informed that three people had been stabbed on Barnard Road in the Gorton area of ​​the town, near Longsight.”

“Upon arrival, officers, including specialist firearms units, along with colleagues from North West Ambulance Service, found that three people – a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man – had suffered serious stab wounds.

“Unfortunately, the woman in her forties succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. The other two remain in hospital as their injuries are currently considered life-threatening.

“A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody pending questioning by detectives.

“The crime scene remains on site as our detectives continue their investigation. They are speaking to witnesses to establish the full circumstances of the incident, but initial indications suggest the suspect was known to the victims and is being treated as an isolated case.”

Detective Superintendent Toby Facey added: “We understand that the local community and those across Greater Manchester are rightly shocked and concerned after waking up this morning to hear this tragic news.”

“Our thoughts are with those affected and their families during this difficult time. We are doing everything we can to support them. Within minutes of the call, our officers were on site and an arrest was made.

Videos showed a large number of police cars and ambulances lining the street as neighbors watched from their homes.
