With the 2024–25 season just weeks away, the Louisville Ballet invited the Courier Journal for a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals for one of the new season’s six performances.

Although “A Time Remembered” will not be performed until February 2025, rehearsals have already begun at the Louisville Ballet’s Main Street Studios, 315 E Main St.

In collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Louisville and Kentucky Opera, the program includes two poignant productions: “Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project,” a ballet originally choreographed for Ballet Austin by Kentucky native and Austin Ballet artistic director Stephen Mills, and “Another Sunrise,” a 30-minute chamber opera performed by Kentucky Opera and commissioned by Music of Remembrance, a Seattle-based performing arts organization focused on human rights and social justice.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust, “A Time Remembered” will be performed on February 1 and 2 at Whitney Hall, 501 W. Main St.

Louisville Ballet’s 2024-25 season, beginning Sept. 13, includes beloved traditions, world premieres and inspiring stories of love, hope and magic. Performances include “Studio Connections” Sept. 13-15 and 20-22, “Triple Take” Nov. 1-3, “The Nutcracker by Brown Forman” Dec. 13-24, “A Time Remembered” Feb. 1-2, 2025, “Choreographers’ Showcase” Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 28-March 2, 2025 and “Cinderella” April 4-6, 2025.

Tickets for all performances are available at louisvilleballet.org.
