Audiences can look forward to five diverse, multicultural dance productions this fall as the Key West International Dance Company launches its inaugural season in the island city.

The company was founded by performer, writer and director Pamela Stephenson Connolly. After living in the Lower Keys and Key West for nearly a decade, Stephenson Connolly formed an ensemble of Florida Keys talent to present original productions that celebrate the region’s vibrant multicultural heritage.

“This season isn’t just about showcasing different styles of dance – it’s also about celebrating Key West’s rich cultural heritage and diverse spirit,” says Stephenson Connolly. “I encourage everyone to come along and join in.”

The inaugural season begins with “Gate 54B,” an exploration of life-changing connections in an airport setting with an Argentine tango flair.

The hilarious “Bum Farto the Musical” is based on the outrageous exploits of a renegade Key West fire chief.

“Bum Farto The Musical” is an energetic journey through the colorful history of Key West.

The existentially spooky “Dark Night of the Soul,” inspired by Spanish mysticism, set in the Renaissance, and premiering on Halloween.

“Lambada is dead – long live Lambada!” is a crime thriller that explores the history and rhythms of the cultural dance phenomenon.

“Fiesta de Navidad Tropical!” is a holiday celebration with Latin American dancing, audience participation and a live band.

Performances begin Oct. 3 in the theater at Key West’s historic San Carlos Institute, 516 Duval St. Ticket prices range from $35 to $90. For more information, visit keystix.com/keywestinternationaldancecompany ¦
