45-year-old man kidnaps 3-year-old girl sleeping with her mother in front of a temple and abandons her after raping her
Jodhpur: A three-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a 45-year-old man while she was sleeping with her mother outside a temple. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
She was discovered by a woman setting up her stall at around 6:30 a.m. She was wrapped in a shawl and had bruises and bite marks on her lips and back.
A senior official said: “Based on this information, the police reached the scene and took the girl for medical examination, which confirmed that she had been raped. A forensic team was also called to examine the crime scene.”
When the police were notified, they launched a thorough investigation and teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were dispatched to the crime scene.
CCTV footage from many sources including the Abhay Command Centre was thoroughly examined. The suspect who was seen taking the youth away from the crime scene was identified. Subsequently, the accused was identified and taken into custody while he was working at a local tea shop.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Labhu Ram, the culprit was arrested after investigation revealed that Sardarpura area was the last known location of his phone. The suspect, identified as Harish, 45, lives in Chopasni Housing Board area and works in a tea shop. He was arrested after he was found near Ghantaghar.
Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), said the girl’s family lives in a slum in Madhya Pradesh. They are originally from Madhya Pradesh.
The child’s father works as a rag collector and the mother suffers from mental problems and has a five-year-old brother.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to try to piece together the details of this horrific case.
