Godsey served as the Lions’ defensive assistant in charge of special projects in 2017 after spending three years in Houston as quarterbacks coach (2014) and offensive coordinator (2015-16). Godsey and Patricia both served on New England’s coaching staff from 2011-13.

Davidson is now playing for a different team for the fourth time in four seasons after being fired by Denver earlier this month. Davidson was New England’s offensive line and tight ends coach from 2002-04; the 2004 season was Patricia’s first with New England.

Stewart did not work with Patricia in New England, but the two were on the same Syracuse football team in 2001. Stewart was an NFL assistant coach from 2002-2009, including two years as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator (2007-2008) before returning to college. Stewart was recently named defensive coordinator at Rice University.

Patricia is set to become Detroit’s head coach after completing his duties as New England’s defensive coordinator in the 52nd Super Bowl on Sunday.
