10-storey building on reserved land to be demolished in Thane

KALYAN: A 10-storey building in KalyanYusuf Height, illegally built on Land reserved for a garden and night camp, is razed to the ground by KDMC after the monsoon.
Recently, the EOW submitted a complaint to the Thane police Complaint against contractor Salman Dolare, his assistant Faraz Hare and two others for illegal construction on a reserved plot without the required permission from KDMC. They used fake permission documents from KDMC to deceive buyers and cause revenue loss to the government.
Complainant Nishar Sheikh said when he brought this to the attention of KDMC, the building was declared “unauthorised” and a demolition order was issued, but no concrete action was taken.
Sheikh claimed that some officials were involved in shielding the illegal construction.
KDMC decided to demolish the building after doubts arose over the legality of constructing such a building on a reserved plot and selling flats with fake documents.
Tushar Sonawane, deputy commissioner of KDMC, said they would issue a notice to the developer this week and file a case.
Activist Rupesh Bhoir, who supports home buyers, urged the KDMC chief to take strict action against the officials in charge who were trying to protect the building to deter other unscrupulous developers.
