Suspect fleeing shooting dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound

DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating after a suspect who fled a fatal shooting died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a car crash Sunday.

According to Denver police, the male suspect was observed leaving the scene of a shooting around 9 a.m. Sunday that left a man dead in the area between W. Arkansas Avenue and S. Knox Court.

According to police, officers pursued the vehicle until the suspect collided with another car and then caused another crash in the area of ​​South University Boulevard and Cherry Hills Farm Drive.

After the accident, officers found the suspect dead in his car; he had apparently inflicted the gunshot wound on himself. The three people in the vehicle that the suspect allegedly drove into were not injured.

The identity of the victim and suspect have not yet been released. Police said the entire incident remains under investigation.
