NZXT Capsule review: Affordable, crystal-clear microphone

I’ve been using the NZXT Capsule for a few weeks now and have finally gotten enough experience with it to write a full review. I bought it with open expectations from NZXT after upgrading from the HyperX Quadcast, which had been a capable microphone for me for four years.

I wasn’t sure if the low price reflected the quality of the NZXT Capsule, but I now believe that the company is not charging enough for such an excellent peripheral.

Read on to read the full review of the NZXT Capsule before you purchase the microphone.

Seriously heavy stuff

The NZXT Capsule is a cardioid USB microphone that can stand upright on a desk or be attached to a boom arm – which NZXT also sells. At just $59.99, the NZXT Capsule is one of the most affordable microphones on the market, costing less than half the price of the HyperX Quadcast S.

The NZXT Capsule looks like this when delivered very attractive. It comes in either pure white or pure black and everything from the construction of the base unit itself to the no-compromise, shock-resistant table stand feels premium. In the box there’s a nice braided cable and a couple of adapters in case you want to attach it to a boom arm.

What surprised me most was the weight of the microphone with the table stand mounted – it is difficult. The result is a slightly more “expensive feel” to the device, which is made of sturdy, durable plastic and aluminum. On the front of the microphone are two dials, one for controlling the voice volume and one for controlling the volume of a headset.

This second dial is important because it relies on another function – you can operate a headset through the NZXT capsule.

With a quick-release implementation, a solid cardioid mic pattern, and crystal-clear audio capabilities, the NZXT Capsule could be the Quadcast killer we’ve been waiting for. On stream, my viewers noted that it sounds much better than the Quadcast, and the built-in shielding does a better job of masking background noise.

I can’t find much to complain about with the NZXT Capsule. I wanted to say that it might too bigbut there is also a mini version if you are short on space. I highly recommend trying out the NZXT Capsule if you are a streamer looking for a solid microphone.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been on the market since September 2021 – it’s brilliant.
