Amid fierce criticism, Tyreek Hill challenges sprinter Noah Lyles to a race

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has his sights set on Noah Lyles, challenging the Olympic 100-meter champion to a race on social media on Sunday.

The speedy Hill was apparently not impressed by Lyles’ victory in the men’s 100-meter final at the Paris Olympics on August 4, and he disagreed on Monday on the “Up & Adams” podcast when Lyles said Super Bowl winners are not “world champions” – a dig the sprinter had previously made against NBA winners.

Hill took to social media on Sunday and encouraged Lyles to sign a contract to compete against him in a 50-yard dash.

“Sign the contract and secure the 50-yard dash…” Hill wrote.

Hill’s challenge came immediately after Lyles challenged the Dolphins wide receiver on an episode of “Nightcap” with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson released Saturday.

“Tyreek is just chasing influence,” Lyles said. “Anytime someone faster comes along, he tries to compete with them. If he really wanted to compete, he would have run like DK Metcalf. And the man ran the 60 meters in the Masters division this year. The man is dodging smoke. I don’t have time for that.”

“He’s challenging me. We’ll do the 100 meters, we can drive. If he’s really serious. If he’s really serious, and I’m not talking about you, you’re just talking on the internet… then you’ll see me on the track.”

Lyles also mocked Hill during an interview with NBC Sports on Friday, claiming he didn’t know who he was.

On the podcast “Up & Adams,” Hill said he could beat Lyles in a race.

“I won’t beat him by much, but I would beat Noah Lyles,” Hill said.

Hill, who was a two-time national track and field champion as a high school student, demonstrated his speed in March 2023 by winning the 60-meter sprint in 6.7 seconds at the USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships.
