The Hamptons and the Authors’ Night: Last but not least

The East Hampton Library presented its 20th annual Authors Night fundraiser. This is one of the most popular and prominent events on the Hamptons summer calendar. I spoke about the prominent authors and the doctors and healers, now the political authors.


John Avlon is an American journalist, political commentator, and Democratic candidate. He is a former senior political analyst and anchor at CNN and was editor-in-chief and managing director of The Daily Beast from 2013 to 2018.

Stuart E. Eizenstat covers every major international agreement today, from the treaty ending the Vietnam War to the Kyoto Protocols to the Iran nuclear deal. Melissa DeRosa is a former American government official. From 2017 to 2021, she was secretary to former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. In 2023, she published a memoir entitled What remains unsaid: My life at the centre of power, politics and crisisDeRosa later became a strategic advisor. In 2009, DeRosa served as New York state director of Barack Obama’s PAC, Organizing for America, and director of communications and legislative affairs for Albany-based lobbying firm Cordo and Company. In 2015, DeRosa was appointed Chief of Staff. In 2020, DeRosa was appointed to then-President-elect Joe Biden’s transition committee, where he served as senior adviser to incoming White House counsel Steve Ricchetti and helped lead the new administration’s response to COVID-19.

Wilbur Ross Jr. is an American businessman who served as the 39th United States Secretary of Commerce from 2017 to 2021. Ross is a member of the Republican Party and previously served as Chairman and CEO of WL Ross & Co. from 2000 to 2017.
