Dance Moms: Where is Abby Lee Miller now? Health updates and current location

Star choreographer Abby Lee Miller peaked as the face of Lifetime’s reality series “Dance Moms,” launching the careers of popular dancers Maddie Ziegler, JoJo Siwa, Kendall Vertes and more during her eight seasons with the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC).

However, Miller’s illustrious career ended with her conviction for bank fraud in 2017. She served a year in prison and was eventually diagnosed with cancer, which left her confined to a wheelchair. Her exit from the reality dance series was met with accusations of toxic behavior from former students such as Ziegler and Kalani Hilliker. She currently teaches dance to children at her LA studio.

After her release from prison and recovery from cancer, Abby Lee Miller was determined to start over and began the famous Abby Lee Dance Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which served as the main location for Dance Moms. In January 2023, according to Today, she confirmed that she had sold it and would be converting it into a daycare center.

Shortly after, Miller, who is notorious for her strict manners, was pitching a potential new reality TV series that had not yet been attached to a network but would basically be a “dramatic” new version of Dance Moms. She told Entertainment Tonight that it would feature older students in addition to the little ones with their mothers.

The dance mogul then launched a podcast called Leave It On The Dance Floor in June 2023, where she and her guest stars talk about all things Dance Moms, from fan-favorite episodes to the ups and downs of Miller’s long career. She also reacts to and comments on other dance reality shows like Dancing with the Stars.

In addition to her reality TV activities and podcasts, Miller teaches dance to children at a new Los Angeles branch of the Abby Lee Dance Company. The studio was originally founded in 2015 while the fifth season of Dance Moms was being filmed, but after her prison sentence, the LA studio was closed and later sold.

In October 2023, the ALDC founder made a guest appearance on the E! reality show “House of Villains” as a contestant and won the cash prize of $200,000 and the title of “America’s Ultimate Supervillain.”

Miller has continued her choreography at a new ALDC studio in California’s capital, training student teams for national and regional competitions and coaching aspiring dancers virtually via Zoom sessions. She also offers master classes and meet-and-greet sessions worldwide during her tours.

It seems Abby Lee Miller has cut all ties with Dance Moms and her former students, as she did not appear in the Lifetime special “Dance Moms: The Reunion,” which aired on May 1.

After spending eight months in prison, the 58-year-old TV personality battled her cancer diagnosis for two years before recovering from the disease in 2019. Miller was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma in prison in 2018 and after emergency surgery, she was permanently confined to a wheelchair.

Regardless, Season 8 of Dance Moms, Miller’s final season, presented her presumed choreography duties on the reality show with the added challenge of physical limitations since she can no longer walk.

Abby Lee Miller leaves her past behind and embarks on a new and independent path against all adversities. At the same time, she struggles with health problems that severely affect her future as a dancer.
