Police say 74-year-old man dies after attack in Fells Point

Fox45 obtained exclusive video of the attack on 74-year-old David Philpot at the corner of Eastern Ave and Ann in Fells Point.

According to his family, Philpot died early Sunday morning after being admitted to hospital.

According to Baltimore police, on August 17 at around 2:45 p.m., a 74-year-old man was attacked by an unidentified white man in the 1700 block of Eastern Avenue.

According to officials, the attack followed an argument between the two.

The video shows the suspect in the attack approaching Philpot while he was walking his dog named Chip.

The suspect actually petted Chip seconds before the attack.

Fox45 spoke to Philpot’s friend Caleb Shuey, who arrived minutes after the attack.

“The nicest guy in the world. You can tell he appreciates life and has fun,” Shuey said.

The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect seen in the following photos.

In 2020, FOX45 spoke to Philpot when he came across an unlocked mailbox on a street corner in Fells Point and stood guard until a USPS employee arrived.
