Ana Navarro of “The View” talks about her excitement at hosting the second night of the DNC and recalls escaping communism as a little girl

Ana Navarro celebrates being one of the hosts of the Democratic National Convention, which begins Monday, August 19, at the United Center in Chicago.

The view and the CNN political commentator has been a strong supporter of the Democratic Party over the past decade, expressing her support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

In a video she posted on Instagram, Navarro announced that she would host the second night of the DNC, the same evening that former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama will speak.

“I can’t tell you how much this means to me,” Navarro said in the video of her role as DNC moderator. “I’m a little refugee girl who fled communism, who fled Nicaragua at the age of eight, who found freedom and opportunity and a home in America, and for me, the chance to stand on that stage and help my girl Kamala make history and become the Democratic nominee is just an overwhelming moment.”

Navarro identified as a Republican for many years, but stopped supporting it when Donald Trump completely reshaped the political party.

Other DNC moderators include Tony Goldwin (Night 1), Mindy Kaling (Night 3) and Kerry Washington on the fourth night, when Kamala Harris officially accepts the nomination.
