She suspected that they might be prehistoric finds and her mother Claire alerted experts.

They believe the five prints near Penarth in South Wales belong to a 4.5-metre-long dinosaur called Camelotia.

Tegan, from Pontardawe near Swansea, said: “It was so cool and exciting.”

We just wanted to see what we could find and didn’t think we would find anything.

“We found big holes that looked like dinosaur footprints. So mom took some photos, emailed them to the museum and it was from a long-necked dinosaur.”

The coastal area is very popular with fossil hunters.

Four-year-old Lily Wilder found another dinosaur footprint nearby in 2021.

Palaeontologist Cindy Howells of the National Museum Wales examined the marks left in the rock and said she was “pretty sure they are genuine dinosaur prints”.

Cindy told the BBC’s The Dinohunters: “We have five footprints and the distance between each one is about half a metre to three quarters of a metre.”

“These footprints are so large that they must be from a species of dinosaur called Sauropodomorpha.

“If they were random holes, we would be cautious, but because we have a left foot, a right foot, and then a left and a right … there is a consistent distance between them.

“This is a pretty significant find. The excitement you get when someone contacts us with a definitive dinosaur find is incredible.”
