William Exton and Tom Bewley achieved another top-15 result in the second one-hour race of the ADAC GT4 Germany weekend at the Nürburgring.

However, it was another frustrating race for the New Zealand duo after early contact ruined their chances of a top-five finish.

The second race of the weekend saw much better weather than the first and on a dry track, Will was able to avoid any first lap traffic dramas and settle into tenth place in a battle of fourth to twelfth.

A safety car after seven minutes meant another busy restart, but Exton was able to secure ninth place and looked comfortable.

Unfortunately, with ten minutes to go in his stint, the Fourie BMW sent him spinning and dropped him back to 19th place. Any chance of a result commensurate with their pace was lost, but Will got back on track and quickly fought his way back to 13th place before his pit stop.

With a few cars pitting before the KCMG GR Supra GT4 EVO, Tom Bewley rejoined the track in 17th place and went flat out for his half hour, setting a high pace and doing his best to get a decent result, eventually moving up to 15th place.

“Another frustrating day for the drivers as they were definitely able to keep up with the pace of the leaders,” said Nicolas Caillol, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand Motorsport Manager. “Without the early incident and the various safety car periods, a top ten finish would have been easily possible.”

“Even if the result does not reflect their speed, the guys can be very happy with their performance on their debut in one of the most competitive GT4 series in the world.

“All in all, it was a great week.”
