Motorcyclist dies after crash at Manx Grand Prix | News from UK

According to the organizers, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident during qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix.

Louis O’Regan died as a result of “injuries sustained during the first round of qualifying for the 2024 event,” a statement said.

The 43-year-old Irishman, who lives in Didcot in Oxfordshire, is an “experienced participant” in the race – he made his debut in the Newcomers A Race in 2013, it said.

At the Junior Race 2019 he reached his personal best speed of 184.6 km/h.

In the statement, the organizers expressed their “deep sadness” and their “condolences to Louis’ partner Sarah, his family, relatives and friends.”

The accident occurred at Kate’s Cottage, about 30 miles into the 37-mile race for the Isle of Manon Sunday.

After the accident, roads were closed.

The race will continue on Monday at 6.30pm and will last until the following Monday.

At last year’s race, 69-year-old Iain Bainbridge died during his second qualifying run. The father-of-two from County Durham was also a regular competitor in the race, having made his debut there in 2005.
