Outdoor air conditioning unit falls from second floor in central Delhi onto 18-year-old boy, dies

NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old boy lost his life and another was seriously injured when the outdoor unit of an air conditioner fell on them from the second floor of a building in central Delhi’s Doriwalan area.

The police were informed about the incident through a PCR call to the DBG Road Police Station.

According to police reports, the accident occurred around 7pm yesterday in the Doriwalan area and required a swift response from local authorities.

Delhi Police received information about the incident at DBG Road Police Station and immediately rushed to the scene. Initial reports said that the air conditioner came off its support on the second floor and fell on two boys below. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, one of the victims, identified as Jitesh (18), a resident of Doriwalan, was declared dead on arrival.

The second victim, Pranshu (17), a resident of Patel Nagar, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. According to the latest information, Pranshu is not yet in a position to give a statement, which raises concerns about his condition.

The authorities have registered a case under FIR No. 387/24, citing sections 125(a) and 106 of the BNS Act. The incident dates back to August 17 and falls under the jurisdiction of DBG Road Police Station.

A forensic team has searched the scene of the accident for evidence and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the device crash.
