Doctor Who reveals Susan Twist’s new role in next episode

Doctor Who Spoilers follow.

Doctor Who has confirmed another role for recurring guest star Susan Twist.

The actor appeared in all 60th anniversary and season 14 episodes, most recently playing the AI interface of an interplanetary ambulance in last weekend’s episode “Boom.”

After Susan will be seen again in ’73 Yards’ this weekend, the BBC has announced that she will, unsurprisingly, also return for episode 5, ‘Dot and Bubble’, on June 1st.

This time, Susan was cast in the role of the tellingly named Penny Pepper-Bean, alongside guest stars Callie Cooke (“Cheaters”), Tom Rhys Harries (“Suspicion”), Eilidh Loan (“How to Have Sex”) and Aldous Ciokajlo Squire (“Everything Now”).

Here is the mysterious synopsis: “The world of Finetime seems happy and harmonious. But the citizens are plagued by a terrible terror. Can the Doctor and Ruby show them the truth before it’s too late?”

Viewers should expect some craziness in this episode, as unusual character names like Dr. Pee (Max Boast), Hoochy Pie (Niamh Lynch) and Gothic Paul (Pete MacHale) appear.

The story is reminiscent of the classic series “The Happiness Patrol,” in which the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) uncovers the dark side of a seemingly perfect society under the thumb of dictator Helen A. (Sheila Hancock).

“Dot and Bubble” is another episode written by Russell T. Davies and directed by Dylan Holmes Williams after the filmmaker made his debut on “73 Yards.”

Davies recently gave some hints about what to expect for the Doctor and Ruby in the final episode, “Empire of Death,” which features “the strangest villain you’ll ever see.”

“You have to come and watch – even in an interview like this it’s hard to describe. You have to come and watch episode four to understand what’s going on,” he told Radio Times.

Doctor Who new episodes will be broadcast on Saturday at midnight on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available in the UK on BBC iPlayer.
