Want to be on Strictly Come Dancing…

I was so miserable at the time, I shouldn’t have been working, and I definitely shouldn’t have been doing the show – I was psychologically damaged. I had a really bad anxiety disorder. I mean, such severe agoraphobia and dissociation. One day I was suddenly sitting there and I didn’t recognise myself, it was just a very, it was depersonalisation, and I didn’t recognise the person. I knew who the person sitting across from me was, but I literally didn’t know, I knew it was Faye. She was my manager. She’d been my manager forever, but I knew who she was. I thought I’d gone mad, and then I couldn’t recognise myself in the mirror, so I looked in the mirror, but I knew, I knew it was me, but I didn’t know. It was just crazy.

I tried to retire, I tried not to, but I was kind of forced into it, not by the Strictly team, but by my managers at the time. I don’t have that management anymore, so I tried to look after myself. Horrible. It was horrible, horrible, horrible. And I think there was a lot going on there

Wants fame…

I was so focused on making a career, but fame was secondary. Honestly, I was laser-focused. I thought, “I need to hang on for five years and make a second album.” And luckily, I was able to make that album and sell twice as many copies as the first one! It was crazy – it sold a million copies in three and a half weeks.

Will about vulnerability in love …

I don’t know if I’ve quite figured out how to be vulnerable in a relationship. What I do know is that I thrive in boundaries. When something doesn’t have boundaries and people aren’t in their roles, I don’t feel as safe. In a safe environment, I can be vulnerable.
