Three people die in high-speed head-on collision in New Hampshire
According to police, three people died in a high-speed head-on collision in New Hampshire on Saturday.
State police responded to reports of a head-on collision on Route 101 in Candia early Saturday afternoon.
The driver of a Toyota Tundra was reportedly traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed before colliding with the side of a Nissan Sentra.
The Tundra then struck a railing, crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes before colliding head-on with a Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
The drivers of the Toyota Tundra and Jeep Grand Wagoneer died from injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger in the Jeep suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Elliot Hospital. That passenger later died of his injuries at the hospital.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan Sentra suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Elliot Hospital as a precaution.
The names of the deceased were not immediately released pending notification of next of kin.
The westbound lanes were closed for about four hours while police investigated the accident scene.
“Although speed appears to be a factor in the accident, all aspects remain under investigation,” police said in a statement. “Deputies have spoken with several witnesses. Anyone who witnessed the accident and has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact Trooper Will Bohnenberger at [email protected] or (603) 223-4381.”
