TCS and Infosys in the spotlight! Top 7 of the 10 rated companies raise M-Cap by Rs 140 crore

The total market valuation of seven of the top 10 valued companies rose by Rs 1,408,636,660 crore in the holiday-shortened week last week, while the benchmark Sensex gained about 1%. Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys were the top gainers, following a positive trend on Dalal Street.

Last week, the BSE benchmark rose 730.93 points or 0.91 percent after a big jump on Friday.

Equity indices Sensex and Nifty rose sharply on Friday, reflecting a rebound in global markets and buying by IT companies and Reliance Industries. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 1,330.96 points, or 1.68 percent, to close at 80,436.84. The NSE Nifty hit a triple hundred today, gaining 397.40 points, or 1.65 percent, to close at 24,541.15.

Top gainers from BSE and NSE

Tata Consultancy Services’ market capitalization (Mcap) increased by Rs 67,477.33 crore to Rs 15,979,464.44 crore. Infosys’ valuation increased from Rs 36,746.21 crore to Rs 7,720,234.9 crore.

Bharti Airtel’s market capitalization increased by Rs 11,727.55 crore to Rs 845,123.87 crore while that of ICICI Bank rose by Rs 10,913.96 crore to Rs 836,115.19 crore. ITC’s value increased by Rs 8,569.73 crore to Rs 628,399.10 crore while that of Reliance Industries rose by Rs 5,311.4 crore to Rs 20,000.7641 crore. Hindustan Unilever increased its valuation by Rs 117.48 crore to Rs 645,926.13 crore.

BSE, NSE are the biggest laggards

However, the market capitalization of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) declined by Rs 47,943.48 crore to Rs 6,69,058.26 crore. HDFC Bank’s value declined by Rs 13,064 crore to Rs 12,43,441.53 crore, while State Bank of India’s value declined by Rs 10,486.42 crore to Rs 7,25,080.10 crore.

Most valuable company on the stock exchange

Reliance Industries is the most valuable company, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, LIC, Hindustan Unilever and ITC.

At the sector level, all indices closed higher. The Nifty Bank Index, which tracks the banking sector and comprises 12 banking companies, closed 789.60 points or 1.59% higher at 50,516.90. The Nifty IT, auto and realty indices all gained more than 2%. In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices rose 1.96% and 1.93%, respectively.
