Telangana man commits suicide over Rs 1,790 crore loans and unpaid salary

Hyderabad: An outsourcing worker in Suryapet district, despairing over not being paid his salary for over three months, committed suicide on Saturday, August 17.

The deceased, identified as Wasim, wrote a suicide note stating that he was unable to provide for his family. Wasim addressed the letter to his wife Rajni and apologized for causing trouble to the family.

The deceased asked his wife to repay loans of Rs 1,790 crore from various lenders. In a separate letter to his friends, Wasim said he had been struggling for the last three months due to outstanding salary payments and wished no one should face a similar situation.

Reacting to the incident, BRS chairman KT Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the state government for making tall promises that all government employees would be paid their salaries on time on the first day of every month. He said Wasim’s suicide shows the lies and utter failure of the Congress government. “Who is responsible for the loss of his life?” he asked.
