Cup progress secured thanks to Camarda’s brace

Milan Futuro made it two wins out of two at the start of their first season as they came from behind to beat Novara in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro last night.

Mattia Liberali had the first chance, saving Minelli’s shot from a tight angle, but the home side took the lead in the 11th minute when Khailoti scored from a corner.

The Rossoneri responded well, but Novara were dangerous on the counterattack. Lapo Nava made a brilliant save and prevented Calcagni from doubling their lead by deflecting the ball out of play and awarding a corner.

Milan Futuro then equalised in the 24th minute after great work from Chaka Traorè on the left wing, whose trickery led to a missed shot and a penalty. Francesco Camarda stepped up to the penalty spot and converted with ease.

The Traorè-Camarda game continued and gave Daniele Bonera’s team the lead a few minutes before half-time. A curved cross from Chaka from the left found the path of the centre-forward, who headed in powerfully and precisely.

Milan Futuro had its chances to decide the game through counterattacks, but had to settle for a 2-1 victory. the 3-0 win against Lecce in the previous round and means a place in the round of 16 of the cup. The Rossoneri start their league season a week later today against Virtus Estella.
