Ballet Vero Beach seeks volunteers for performances and events

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Do you love ballet? Here you have the opportunity to actively support culture and dance in the community and among youth.

Founded in 2013, Ballet Vero Beach is entering its 12th season and features professional ballet dancers and performances year-round. The nonprofit organization seeks volunteers to help with guest services, special events, administration, public relations and performances. Volunteers receive free tickets to performances and merchandise.

“We’re always looking for people,” said artistic director and executive director Adam Schnell. The most urgent need is for people who can help with performances and events, provide guest services, run the boutique and set up and tear down the event, he said.

“We need a few extra helpers at these events,” said Schnell.

Ballet Vero Beach also helps introduce ballet to children through workshops and free matinee performances.

“Ballet Vero Beach seeks to bring the universal language of dance to a broad spectrum of our community,” the organization’s website states. The program “provides the highest quality arts events while providing additional engagement through the integration of arts to combat the issue of early literacy in our community.”

Volunteers receive compensation for their help – in the form of free tickets to performances or merchandise from Ballet Vero Beach, Schnell said. No experience is needed, just a willingness to help, Schell said.
