Honda Hornet Adventure under consideration » MotorOctane

Honda recently launched the Hornet 2.0. This has a new, revamped platform and Honda plans to use it for other new projects. With the adventure segment growing so fast in India, there is a possibility that a Honda Hornet Adventure may make it into Honda’s upcoming products.

Honda Hornet Adventure – Technical data

According to Honda, the adventure bike will use the same new, revised platform that is used on the Honda Hornet. For now, we’ll call it the Honda Hornet adventure bike. This Honda Hornet Adventure is expected to come with a 200cc or 160cc engine. Currently, the adventure segment starts with the Hero Xpulse with 200cc and goes up to the 390cc engine with the KTM 390 Adventure.

If Honda is giving this adventure bike a smaller engine, it is for one reason only: to keep the price down. Since it is an adventure bike, it needs power and a smaller engine might not be a good choice. We expect a larger engine or at least the same engine as the Honda Hornet 2.0.

Honda Hornet engine

The new engine of the Honda Hornet 2.0 is a 184cc engine that produces about 17 hp and 16 Nm of torque. It is an air-cooled engine and does not rev very high. The engine has a bit of pull in the lower rev range, but to maintain quality and longevity, it does not rev very high.

If this engine is to be fitted to the adventure bike, it will need some tweaking. There are bikes in Honda’s international range that are geared towards adventure and have the power to eat up a lot of miles. The CRF 250L and CRF 250 Rally are very capable bikes in Honda’s international portfolio.

CRF250

The design of the bike may be based on the CRF 250. It is a Dakar Rally style bike. It is also a bit reminiscent of the Honda Africa Twin, which is the ultimate in Honda’s adventure bikes.

The launch of the CRF 250 in any of its variants is not planned for India. These bikes are very advanced and promise anything but value for money. To make them suitable for India, Honda would have to manufacture them in India, which is not currently planned.

Price

If the Honda Hornet adventure bike comes with a 200cc engine, we can expect a price tag under Rs 200,000. This will vary depending on the features offered and the bike parts. As of now, Honda has not announced anything about the bike and we will have to wait to get a confirmation from the company.
