A Muthu‘S Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaareleased on August 18, 2000, was a romantic comedy inspired by Glenn Gordon Caron’s Beautiful. It was Abhishek Bachchan‘s second release and therefore of crucial importance.

Unfortunately, the film has no jadoo at the box office. Abhishek was heavily criticised for copying his father’s dance steps. “You have to understand that I have to do what I am told. I am not someone who argues with the senior technicians of my unit. The choreographer said I have to do certain steps and I did that. I really didn’t think about whether the dance steps were similar to my father’s.”

He enjoyed this light-hearted romantic comedy with Keerthy Reddy“In Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa, I got a chance to relax. I had a lot of fun doing it. I never consciously imitated my father. When I saw the film, I realised that it seemed that way. But I still think I did not do badly in the film. They gave me the scenes and I did what felt natural.”

On the comparisons with his father, Abhishek had said in 2000 when he made his debut, “I think people are not sure what they want from me. It is a double-edged sword that will hang over my head for the rest of my life. I think it will take some time for people to understand what I am about and what they want from me. In the meantime, I will just carry on and do what I want to do and what I believe in. If I stumble, there is no point in being an actor anymore.”

Abhishek also said he was as impressed by his mother’s acting skills as he was by his famous father. “Sometimes I feel people don’t understand what I do on screen. I would say Maa’s (Jaya Bachchan) performance in Khalid Mohamed’s Fiza is what I am aiming for. In the scene where Hrithik (Roshan) shoots a man in front of her, her reaction of speechless shock was fantastic. But nobody liked that. Some trade publications even wrote that she overacted in Fiza. What are they talking about? I thought she was fantastic in Fiza.”
