5. Which defensive backs should quarterbacks watch out for this fall?

One of District 10’s strengths each year is a group of talented defensive backs. These defensive backs go on to have solid college careers after chasing passes in D-10. With the influx of new quarterbacks this season, the defensive backs could be itching to intercept some passes.

The fastest defensive back in D-10 is back this season: Hickory star Jadon Phillips. He had a stellar freshman season with 10 interceptions, leading the entire D-10. The next two players on the interceptions list have graduated, but Bishop Root (Sharon), Brandon Hoover (Cambridge Springs) and Cru Scott (Saegertown) are all back after intercepting five passes last fall.

General McLane star wide receiver Jacob Zietz, Meadville defensive standout Amari Grenaway and Oil City quarterback Cole Findlay all had four interceptions last fall, while Austin Brown (Union City), Juelz Johnson (Farrell), Jacoby Thompson (Meadville) and Ian McDonald (Titusville) each had three.

With dozens of defensive players missing who had at least three interceptions last year, D-10 will have a new group of cornerbacks and safeties looking to excel this season.
